Campus Regina Public Social Justice Initiative

Groundbreaking innovation is happening in the Regina Public School system as evidenced by a Social Justice class starting this year at Campus Regina Public.  Gord Barnes and Jim Hutchings spoke with enthusiastic students and staff from Campus Regina Public about how the Social Justice class was conceived as a part of an initiative to make school more meaningful for students.

Field 2 Fork Festival

This week Halena Seiferling was wearing two hats for the Human Rights Radio show.  In addition to co-hosting today's show, Halena is part of a trio of activists who are passionate about the politics of food and who want the public to be more aware of where their food comes from and how it is produced.  Our special guests this week were Kay Neidermayer and Allison Doan who, along with Halena, were instrumental in organizing the Field 2 Fork Festival,  September 19th to the 22nd.  We talk about issues in the global food system and what we can do to address problems in the system.

Talking about Treaties

Gord Barnes and Jim Hutchings hosted this weeks Human Rights Radio with special guests Shannon McNabb and Katrina Smith, both First Nations activists who have the goal of making everyone aware of the treaties between the Government of Canada and First Nations people and how these treaties define the obligations of both parties, Canada and First Nations, to each other.

U of R Students Sponsor Refugees

On this week's programme, Halena Seiferling and Jim Hutchings talk with Aurora Elig and Patience Umereweneza, members of the World University Services of Canada (WUSC) at the University of Regina.   One of the things WUSC does is run a Student Refugee Program where they provide funds for refugee students from around the world to come and study at the University of Regina.  We talk about the programme, about the new refugee students newly arrived in Regina and about refugee rights in general.
